Seventeen-year-old Quincy Alexander won a gold medal in the match sprint during the Junior Pan American Championships when he beat Bajan Javed Mounter in the final in Mar Del Plata, Argentina on Saturday. Alexander won the first ride of a best of three matchup before Mounter conceded the second race due to “ill feelings.”

Alexander reached the semifinals of the Keirin but was eliminated in the early stages of the kilo after clocking 1:08.63. The victory marked the Beacon cyclist’s first gold at Junior Pan Ams after being a part of the bronze-winning team in the team sprint in Mexico in 2009 and winning silver in the kilo and sprint in Puerto Rico in 2010. Meanwhile, T&T’s other entrant Jodi Goodridge reached the finals in both of her events, placing fourth in the 500m in 39.17 and fifth in the Keirin.
